In Mar del Plata, a 16-month-old baby recently died after falling into a pool at his home in the La Herradura neighborhood. According to police sources, the tragic incident took place on Friday afternoon, when the mother found the child in the water and called medical personnel to attempt to revive him.
Authorities, upon arriving at the scene, performed resuscitation maneuvers at the house and transported the little one to the Florentino Ameghino Primary Health Care Center in an ambulance from SAME. Due to the lack of response, the baby was taken to the local Maternal and Child Hospital, where he was unfortunately declared deceased.
The mother told the police that she had entered the house for a brief moment and, upon returning, saw the child in the pool. The circumstances of the tragedy point to an accident, so the Prosecutor's Office for Unintentional Crimes has initiated an investigation into the matter.
According to authorities, all possible efforts were made at the hospital to save the child, but unfortunately, it was not possible to reverse the situation. The local community is in shock over the news and stands in solidarity with the family of the little one in their grief.
